As one of the most enigmatic and technically oriented producers on BCR, Jonny 290 brings a unique element to the label. From his early days as a computer-assisted punk rock producer in the 90's, on through his college ambient experiments, and through to the current day of DNB and techno production, 290 has always infused his tracks with a futuristic, punchy sound.
Donning the monikers Chest Pain Unit for his drum and bass production and Stephen Neuville for his techno and ambient experiments, Jonny 290 aims to push whatever sound he is working with up to the next level. Currently, his techy workout "All Souls Deserve Flight" on BCR is a presentation of his tracks' moody ambience and tight production, with more on the horizon. With five years of DJ experience under his belt, 290 is no slouch behind the decks, either - his DJ sets are eclectic, ranging from US and UK atmospheric drum and bass, to the dark warehouse vibes of the late 90's, to fresh scientific and hard-hitting US smashers, with recent experiments into the aggressive techno styles.
As would be expected, 290 is a big fan of the new wave of digital mixing products and setups on the horizon, and is experimenting with integrating these ideas into his live and recorded sets.
